Alien Youth
Alien Youth is the youth ministry of the Church.
Alien Youth meets the 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month at 7:00 pm for all teenagers beginning at sixth grade. This is a great time of fun, games, eats and things to make you think about real life.
The name of the youth ministry came from a song from the Christian rock band Skillet. "Alien Youth" is a title song from one of their albums and is a concept that the band leader adapted from Hebrews 11:13 about how all who live by faith admit they are aliens and strangers on earth and that we as Christians need to take over the world with a passion and fire for God.
Our main focus for the members of the youth ministry can be summed up by Romans 12:2 “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – His good, pleasing and perfect will.”
Weekly lessons are focused on the ongoing concerns in a young person’s life and how the world can influence you into situations that are not pleasing to God and how to step back from these situations and look at them through godly living.
Events throughout the year include fun outings such as the movies, mini-golf, bowling, and a trip to Revelation Generation. We have a lock-in each year at the church which is always a huge hit among the youth. We also participate in the 30 Hour Famine through World Vision. We have fundraisers throughout the year to help defray the cost of our activities and trips. One special fundraiser which is a favorite of the congregation is the Sweetheart Dinner held every February. Once a year we set aside a Sunday and we take over the service. That’s right! The service is run by the youth group and is always a great time to see our youth in this capacity of serving the Lord.
